When I tell people I'm a Buffy fan, I get one of two reactions....
1.) The eyebrow raised, sideways mouth, head cocked to one side, "really?" reaction
Or
2.) The eyes light up, grin from ear to ear, squeel of joy "OMG, me too!" reaction.
I've never met a "grey area" Buffy fan. Either you love it, or you don't. This isn't just a show, it's a lifestyle! The people in the show are my friends, I feel like when life is getting a bit to chaotic or depressing, I can pick a random episode and feel better. Watching Buffy is like visiting an old friend.
You have the brains in Willow. You need questions answered, or someone to look into something for you, she's your girl. You need a laugh, or a comforting hug, Xander is there. A father figure who's there to look out for you, not just because he has to, but because he wants to, Giles. And the girl who will throw on her kick butt boots to save your ass, Buffy.
I went all nerd fest and even got a tattoo that simply says "WWBD" on my wrist. I know, I know, I got the "really" reaction from those outside the Buffy circle, and the "That's awesome" reaction from those who understand. But when things come up in my life that I don't know how to handle, I look at those words, and re think my situation. What Would Buffy Do? It's simple, but it helps!
When my daughter was little, she didn't play "Barbie and Ken", she played "Buffy and Spike", my husbands and I's wedding rings are claudaugh rings! Buffy is and will always be a part of my life, and I'm damn proud of that!
A lot of people really love that show!
